Going to bed that night, we knew that if it was to hit our way, it wouldn't be till 12:30-1:00 A.M. But since it was so late, and we not knowing fully what might happen, we all headed to bed except Dad. Upon going to bed, I lay awake forever. After a long time of no sleep, I picked up an exciting book to go along with the stormy night. But before I knew it, Dad comes running in getting us all up in a hurry telling us to head to their closet(Sadly, our safest place). Once we were in there as comfortably set as possible, we waited. And waited.
From his phone, Dad was able to follow the tornado in every direction it went. And, it was headed right smack in our direction...
I could tell my younger siblings were scared. It reminded me of when I was little, and all the millions of times I couldn't sleep because of a measly storm. I remember even when it started raining real hard my stomach would start twisting, sickening me, thinking maybe a storm would erupt. How glad I am to be over that fear.
But this particular stormy night, though I wasn't scared, I was scared for the lives of my family, and our home. Never before had we been so close to such a bad tornado. It was traveling from Alabama here to Georgia(course, there was more than one tornado) killing and destroying everything in it's lath.
That night, I was praying so hard. Had MANY friends praying for our safety, and family prayers as well. For "prayer accomplisheth much". And who better could save us than our God!
Though the time seemed to go so slowly, it also went mighty fast. Here we were sitting in a closet with 10 people squeezing in, and most of whom had been jerked away real fast from their sleep. Everyone was tired. Liberty definitely didn't know what was going on. (poor baby) And young siblings shaking from the cold and closeness of the storm. Dad was still watching the radar... It was so close. So very, very close to hitting us. We definitely was ready now...
Then, all the sudden by a big miracle from our wonderful miraculous God, the tornado turned a little north just to barely miss us. AND, the next morning we found out that it had barely missed us by a mere 5 miles. PRAISE GOD! He sure was watching out for us, and keeping us from all harm. So close to losing much, but God sought best to save us. How mighty and good is our God! He answered our prayers!
But the next day we heard of many people who were not so spared as us. Many homes were lost, and just on the outskirts of out town, a couple were both killed. Everything right on the outside of our town looks miserable. Trees are fallen, houses are crushed, and even a gas-station was TOTALLY destroyed. Looked like bomb after bomb had been set in every direction.
But we serve an awesome God! Why bad storms like this has to happen we don't know. But we DO know that God is watching out for us, doing everything according to his will. And we know that everything will turn out for good, as long as we believe. God worked a miracle our way, and I thank him for it with all my heart. But those who list everything really need in our prayers. This is the time for them to trust God even more. To have faith. And to believe.
So now, who is ready for the pictures? They compare NOTHING to what it is in person, but it at least gives you an idea. Enjoy! And keep all those in need in your prayers!
The Gas Station
Didn't take as many as I thought... but we didn't stop for me to take the pics. :P And I also took a lot with my ipod. So I hope these are satisfying for now.
Fun pictures coming soon! (And some have already been added to my photography blog!) :D Good Night All!
