"Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and out of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price." 1 Peter 3:3,4
"In like manner also, that women adorn themselves with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array. But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works."
1 Timothy 2:9,10
Today, as you may have already noticed, I am going to be discussing the subject of Modesty. It is a much needed subject these days. Immodesty has became the norm. Walking down streets, in Wal-mart, stores, gas stations, EVERYWHERE! Modesty is never seen. Everyone is showing off their bodies by wearing very tight clothes, low tops,(even low pants), VERY short skirts and shorts, heavy makeup, etc.....
It is all so disgusting! They are just trying to show off their bodies for the attention of Men. And believe me, they get it.
Me? I don't want to be like that. I want to be a good example and influence to this world, and by doing the right thing, no matter what the world is doing. God says to dress modestly in the Bible. Look at the verses above. I don't want to show off everything to the WHOLE world, instead save it for my husband. God has already planned on who your husband is going to be, and you don't have to show everything to get one. It is not by what you wear; instead God wants us to focus more on the inside. Our hearts matter more.
If our hearts become renewed by the power of God, then we will want to live by his standards and live modestly in purity. As Christian young ladies, we are to be an example to the rest of the world, living our lives for the glory of God. So I pray that you will choose the right thing, by dressing modestly and not following this world. We are to pattern our lives according to the Bible, not the world.
"Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: But a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised. "
Proverbs 31:30
